Q: What is Welcome to Ruston?
A: Welcome to Ruston is a financial incentive grant program to attract talent to Ruston, Louisiana. We are striving to increase the number of talented and community-centric citizens in our area to make our home even better.
Q: Who is the ideal candidate?
A: The ideal candidate is a remote worker who exhibits care and takes responsibility for the place where they live. Our goal is to promote an inclusive and invested community of citizens.
Q: Can more than one member of a household be awarded?
A: No. While more than one member of a household can apply for the grant, only one member will be awarded per household.
Q: Are jobs also being offered with the grant?
A: No. However, we will do our best to connect you to job resources through our community liaison and other connections.
Q: What types of incentives will the awardee receive?
A: The awardee will receive a $10,000 grant over a three-year period, along with reduced sports tickets, a free lifetime alumni membership to one of our universities, and a community liaison who will help you get settled in.
Q: I already live in Louisiana. May I still apply?
A: Yes. We encourage any interested party to apply, however awards will be given to applicants who relocate from outside Louisiana or outside of a 100 mile radius of Ruston.
Q: Is housing also being offered with the grant?
A: No. However, we will do our best to connect you to housing resources through our community liaison and other connections.
Q: How are applicants selected?
A: Applicants will have their submission reviewed by a board of local reviewers who will determine their base credentials (remote status, salary level, age, ability to relocate), then weighing other factors (community interest and level of involvement).
Q: Who is administering this opportunity?
A: The City of Ruston in conjunction with its economic development council is the funding agency and will be administering the program.
Q: If selected for the program, do I have to live in Ruston?
A: No, however if you live outside the city limits other restrictions may apply.
